The Beta
Yes, and it always will be — no credit card, no trial clock.
Later, Pro will add more saved files, the desktop app and support.
SVG Werkz works and is ready to use, but it’s still new. We’re adding features, fixing bugs and listening to feedback, so you may see things change from week to week.
Export the SVG of anything important so you always have a copy on your own computer.
Contact us and tell us what happened or what you’d like to see. Screenshots help a lot.
Yes. A desktop app is on the way. It will sync with your account, so the files you save online show up there too.
Your Account
Signing in lets you save your files to your account and come back to them from any computer.
Right. Type your email and we send you a 6-digit code. Type the code and you’re in. There’s nothing to remember or reset.
You stay signed in on that browser for 60 days, or until you sign out.
Just sign in. The first time you use a code with your email, your account is made for you.
Give it a minute and check your spam or junk folder. Then click Send a new code on the sign-in screen. Codes work for 10 minutes, and only the newest one works.
Only if you tick Send me updates when you sign in. Otherwise we only send your sign-in codes.
Click your account button (the one with your first letter) in the top bar, then Sign out.
Your Files
Up to 10 saved to your account on the free plan. That’s only for saving online — you can edit and export as many files as you want. To make room, open File → Open from account… and delete a file you don’t need — export it first if you want to keep it.
Yes. Turn it on in Settings → Basics and pick how many minutes between saves. It only saves when something changed.
Up to 15 MB. Images inside the file take the most room.
Yes. Use File → Open to open an SVG, or File → Import to add one to the file you have open. You can also drop files on the window.
If a file has lots of extra nodes, SVG Werkz offers to simplify it.
Use File → Export. You get a standard SVG file on your computer, ready for your website, cutter or laser software.
Only you. Your saved files are tied to your account and nobody else can open them.
Using SVG Werkz
A computer with a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. It’s built for a mouse or trackpad and a keyboard — phones aren’t supported yet.
SVG Werkz exports standard SVG files, which most cutting and laser software can open.
Convert text to paths before you export so it cuts right — use Convert to paths in the Text panel.
870+ Google fonts, plus fonts on your own computer. Star your favorites and add your own tags to find them fast.
Yes. Import a PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP or BMP, lock its layer, and draw over it with the Pen. Or let SVG Werkz trace it for you — see Tracing Images below.
Yes. Pick the Eraser (⇧ E) and drag across the shape. It really cuts the shape, so you get clean edges you can keep editing. Use [ and ] to change the size, and ⇧ [ and ⇧ ] to round the corners of the brush. Select layers first to erase only those.
Yes. Go to Settings → Basics → Keyboard shortcuts. Every shortcut can be changed, and Help and the menus follow your changes.
When you edit an object with the Pen or Direct Select, only that object’s nodes can be picked and everything else goes under a light gray veil. Press Esc or Enter when you’re done. You can switch it off in Settings → Drawing.
Tracing Images
Yes. Select the image and choose Object → Trace image… It can trace in black & white, in color, or as centerlines.
That’s on purpose. Most tracers hug every pixel and leave you hundreds of nodes to clean up. SVG Werkz makes straight edges into real lines and gives curves only the nodes they need, so the result is easy to edit.
Raise Jitter to smooth out wobbles from the pixels. If round parts come out sharp, lower Corners. If you’re getting little dots, raise Specks.
An outline traces around the edges of the ink, which is what you want for filled logos and cutting. A centerline draws one line down the middle of each stroke, which is better for handwriting, line art, pen plotters and engraving.
You choose: keep it (hidden and locked under the trace) or remove it. You can set a default in Settings → Drawing.
Clear images with solid colors and sharp edges, like logos, icons, line art and clean scans. Photos work in Color mode, but you’ll get a lot of shapes.
